A look at still more humorous videos, after-the-jump ….

But first: Top Comments appears nightly, as a round-up of the best comments on Daily Kos. Surely ... you come across comments daily that are perceptive, apropos and .. well, perhaps even humorous. But they are more meaningful if they're well-known ... which is where you come in (especially in diaries/stories receiving little attention).

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Send your nominations to TopComments at gmail dot com by 9:30 PM Eastern Time nightly, or by our KosMail message board. Please indicate (a) why you liked the comment, and (b) your Dkos user name (to properly credit you) as well as a link to the comment itself.

In an otherwise humorless week, there is still room for some more humor.

In 1977 there was a very short-lived (four episodes) Richard Pryor Show on NBC — and this brief skit was so funny, I was choking with laughter … so much, that my mother came in to see if I was all right? What makes this video go from the sublime to the transcendent: was the camera panning over (periodically) to an empty mike stand.

At eight minutes, this is a tad long … but an SNL skit that I got a chuckle out of was when Sir Patrick Stewart was the guest host of SNL in February, 1994 … imagining Love Boat: The Next Generation. The sight of cast member Tim Meadows (in the costume of LeVar Burton) playing the Love Boat’s bartender in the opening theme song (at the 1:20 mark) made me spit out whatever beverage I was quaffing at the time.

Finally, a little over a year ago we heard Sen. Katie Britt give a Stepford Wife response to Joe Biden’s last State of the Union address. Speculation immediately arose that it would become a Saturday Night Live skit — and Scarlett Johansson did so in the next cold opening, which you can see at this link.

But even better was Chris Hayes showcasing ….. this:

.@chrislhayes: "And on Real America's Voice, the Right Wing hosts were stunned into silence." I may never stop laughing. 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂 #SOTUpic.twitter.com/Kh5bcVVSHB

Please feel free to add some videos of your own (from SNL or elsewhere).

Let’s close with this instrumental opening credit theme from theGet Smarttelevision show, which ran from 1965-1970. Interestingly, Mel Brooks and Buck Henry pitched the show initially to ABC, who rejected it … then it was picked-up by NBC for its first four seasons. CBS then picked-it-up for its final, 5th season.

Nearly twenty years later in 1989, there was a made-for-TV reunion show called Get Smart Again! Maxwell Smart walks through the old doors … but they all have cobwebs and badly need oiling. This time, ABC ran this special .. a hat trick.

Now, on to Top Comments (and maybe some Top Photos):

From thesphynx:

In the follow-up diary by A Pagan in Arizona— with further reflections at being a one-woman protestor against the new regime — I nominate scress's searing summary of how Trump voters and nonvoters may finally recognize and react to the damage the monsters are doing in our government now.

From dmhlt 66:
